Gone Woolly

Having The Gramps to stay gave us an excellent excuse to travel to far flung destinations in search of entertainment ... like Woolongong, New South Wales 3rd largest city and home to what we hopped would be a gorgeous and hither-to unexplored (by the Smith family) coast line!

Being located about an hour and a half south of Sydney meant ofcourse that the little uns couldn't go the distance without a break (Bell and Jo found it hard too!) so we stopped off at our fav. look-out restaurant for a chance to stretch our legs, snap some photos and sample the drinks menu!

Little Bear looking beautiful despite an hour of unrelenting boredom!

Taking Gramps to see the sights
Mmm so many tasty drinks to choose from!
Waiting ...
'ok, so maybe the car ride wasn't so bad after all!'
Cleaning up for some more snaps
If you want to get me back in that car you'll have to catch me first!
Nope too slow! I can't go anyway there's way too much exciting stuff here to play with, like...
'tree'...
and 'stick'!
Sorry Mum this step is way too big, looks like you'll have to go on without me!
When we finally descended from the lookout into Woolongong itself an amazing thing happened, the temp dropped with us ... all the way from 35 centigrade to about 10!

However that didn't deter any of us jacket-less Smithies from seeing the sights!
Mmm very pretty! What we couldn't decide was:
"Is it really on fire?!"
A slightly less smoggy but still very chilly view!
After slogging it out in gale force icy wind we eventually found our way to the city centre which was deserted apart from a very odd stage act involving two men doing weird, wonderful woolly gymnastics! Finally finding where everyone was seeking refuge from the cold wind in an undercover shopping mall we thankfully had a bite to eat before hiking back to the car just in time to avoid the first drops of rain from the threatening thunder storm. Snuggled up with the aircon on 'HOT' Bell enjoyed a well deserved kip!

We all decided that Woolongong is probably lovely when the sun is out but The Gramps haven't added it to their 'places to shop for a house' list
... yet!
