Conningham

A little south of Kingston, not far from Kettering is the serene little cove of Conningham Beach ... as a kid I wasn't a massive fan of Conningham mostly because it was home to my second, all time, sea-bathing terror - starfish (My first obviously being that most deadly of all sea creatures - the 'Crab')!!

Ocean horrors aside, it really is a pretty little beach with it's white, powdery sand, it's calm tidal lapping and it's unrivaled views of Mt Wellington. Many a artist has been inspired by it's reflective beauty and it's not unusual to see 'oil on canvas' or 'pastel on sketch pad' depictions of it's many moods in touristy taverns around the coast (or on the lounge room walls of the Rogers residence since both Mum and Dad have at some point in their respective artistic careers taken a stab at capturing it!) ... although still not high on 'my ten top beaches' in Tassy list it is undoubtedly a pleasant place for a late afternoon, mid Autumnal stroll!

Two people happy to be here!

The Omniscient Mountain view!
"Well Howdy folks and welcome to the Mr Smithton's exercise video ...
"You wanna get those gastric juices flowing for lunch then work with me now! And UP... two, three four ..."
"... HOLD ... two, three, four"
"... RIGHT leg ... two, three, four ..."
"Lets see those knee lifts now ... up people, up, up, UP! And ... "
"...now for that LUNCH! And don't it taste better?!"

"Mmm I think I smell some desert in the air ... tangy seaweed here I come!"
Jo makes good his escape while 'Mum's' distracted!
Isobel brushes up on more bush survival skills (mostly gleaned from books like 'Hanzel and Gretel')
Rule 1: Always leave a trail
"... if only this tree wasn't SO...heavy!"
Rule 2: Always give slimy 'treasures' to Grandma to hold
Rule 3: NEVER trust other people's temperature reports!
"Gosh! This is a bit chilly compared to home Mum!"
"All in all I think I'll stick with the unwet side of the beach ... just for now!"
"Besides I'm really get the hang of this log-hauling!"
The sun sinks lower ...
but the intrepid explorers are not deterred!
Still time for a spot of rock climbing ...
And beach-shack conquering!
The new Smith holiday home ... if we can find something to do with the boat that's taking up all the space!

All in all a very successful beach trip with only a hint or two of Starfish legs washed up on the tide line!
Mmm yes that's defiantly bath time calling ...
The end of yet another beautiful Taswegion day!

OK, so these are my favorite photos! I love love LOVE the one of your legs and Isobel with the stick. I just think that one is beautiful. The composition is great, the lighting is great, it's just beautiful. What more can I say? But really all the photos up against that yellow door are pretty cool.
