Parramatta Park and Bantering Blankets

So as some of you may already know we've been having car dramas ... actually the car drama dates back to the ancient history of filming 'The Empty Case' when suddenly I couldn't use first or third gear anymore and got progressively worse until two weeks ago when we couldn't actually get it into any gear! Being pretty inteligent people Paul and I resigned ourselves to the fact that we were actually going to have to get it fixed at long last and took it in for repairs (driving all the way in second gear!)So while the car was having it's clutch replaced I had to give up my usual bi-weekly walk around Iron Cove (a picturesque little cove in the inner west) and find somewhere more local, fortunatly it wasn't too long before I stumbled across Parramatta Park ... not quite as 'picturesque' but full of 'personality'!

The friendly park bats ... just hangin' about.

A real dinkum di Aussie Mum and Tot ... check out those muscles!

The car was fixed in time for me to make 'Blankets and Banter' that Friday night. Winston Hills Relief Society were making blankets for the Devine Women's refuge ... which since my sewing skills are about as good as Paul's meant that I was mainly there for moral support ... but when I arrived I realised to my considerable relief that no sewing machines were involved.

Yes it turns out making blankets is easy! Find yourself two equal sized pieces of polar fleece, cut a small square out of each corner, snip the four sides into one inch think, three inch long tabs and then tie the bottom polar fleece tab to the upper one ... easy, cheap and warm ... I don't know why the Tasmanians haven't caught onto this one!

My table blanket buddies, centre and right is Sister Conlon (That's Chris's Mum) and Kelly Conlon (Chris's sister).

The finished product - 38 in total!
