A WILD day out!

For all those Rellies of ours that are hip (or at least toe - Coventry duo!) deep in snow right now, I thought you might like to know that us Aussies are sweltering through a long, hot, humid summer which appears to have no end in sight! Many a times I've mourned the fact that we were so imprudent as to move into a house 'out west' with no air con and not a shady tree in sight! There have even been days when I've contemplated removing all the shelves from our fridge and climbing in for a bit of a break from the unrelenting stickiness of it all... so suit me up! An arvo in Canada snow shovelling sounds just what the doctor ordered!

The end of December though was not like this at all, the long, hard, pant of Summer hadn't begun yet and we were able to enjoy a bit of a stroll around the zoo without carting our body weight in fluids with us for regular top ups! Here's a couple of pics from that almost forgotten time of bliss!

A happy looking bunch of Zooish explorers!

Some confusion over exactly where the elephants are ...
The experts agree to differ!
The girls!!
Explaining to Dad why he shouldn't try to pat a Croc!
Hanging out with some of the locals...
Bell ponders why they make the nocturnal house so dark you can't actually see any of the animals ...! (actually that was Martin but don't worry no one ever sees the platypus anyway - infact I think it might just be an empty tank that the rangers put there for laughs!)
The views suppose to be better up here but I still can't see the cafe and I've gotta tell you the Lions have nothing on my tummy growls!
Yes, it's an Ape ... can we go eat now MUM?!
After a spot of refuelling Isobel agrees to conduct the after lunch walking tour...
...and it's a Kodak Bear living up to it's name for once (you usually just get a picture of a hairy boulder in the far corner - which might possibly be the backside of one of these guys!)
Bizzer's scary bear impression!
Another 'unusual' creature (once we'd made the mistake of feeding it we just couldn't shake it!)
Getting up to some 'monkey business' ...!

There were a lot of 'cute little critters' at the Zoo but once all the polls had been counted this little 'un came in unanimously as the Zoolandish day trippers 'favourite little furry beast'(but then most of those polled weren't around for the 2am teething marathons ... which might help explain the outcome!)
