Crazy Olympic Park!

The second of June saw us heading back to Olympic Park to check out day two of the 'Babies, Children and Parents' Expo ... this time with Paul in tow! And if nothing else he sure makes a handy seat!
Yup and then I pull his hair this way to steer him like that ... see?!

The thing about Olympic Park is the parking prices are shocking! After I was sadly forced to part with $12 the day before for just a few hours Paul was determined not to pay a cent this time round! Which meant we parked in the back of beyond ... I have to admit I had a few words to say about the length some people will go to not to pay for parking until we stumbled on this freaky but very cool little shortcut ... all any of us could really say was that these Olympic Parkians really are crazy!!
Wow Mum! How high is this thing?!
The only possible explanation for this structure is that someone had way more money than they could spend! They were a very inventive someone tho and obviously had the happy thought of changing this old quarry into a massive boardwalk structure, replanting the weeds in the pit with native shrubbery to encourage the birds and local wildlife to come back and turning the whole thing into some kind of tourist attraction ... just a shame they don't advertise it's existence at all! The boardwalk, suspended nattily on very tall stilts, goes round in a complete circle and comes complete with occasional shaded seating areas, educational information booths and telescopes!
Apart from the abundant (but apparently nocturnal!) wildlife there were plenty of other interesting sights to check out with those telescopes, for example Olympic Park in the background...
some 'arty' old mill buildings,
and the back of beyond (where we parked!)
Admiring the view down under!

Pretending to read the 'educational information'...
Keeping an eye out for those 'native birds' ... do you think they could have meant seagulls?
And the end result of our little find was that we arrived at the Expo in next to no time (which unfortunately meant I was forced to admit it was a top car parking spot after all!). The Baby Expo only comes to Sydney once a year and pretty much every mum with a bump or bub turns up at some point over the three days to see what new fangled gadgets they can score for their little uns ... so not surprisingly we bumped into Isobel's favourite person - Jirehet! (with Mum and Dad in tow ofcourse) right at lunch time and right in time for some Wiggly Dancing!!
Teaching Jirehet how to jive to the tunes!
Ok so 'The Wiggles' couldn't actually make it only Dorothy and a very enthusiastic 'helper' girl in green but Bell loved it ... infact she enjoyed it even more than the day before - must have been the great Saturday 'crowd' atmosphere!
