The Wenty Snowman

My assignment at church is to chair the Activities Committee which I do with a kind of reluctant gusto! Reluctant to start because of the work but gusto once I get stuck in to make it fun! Which occasionally means doing the 'impossible' which in this case was a six foot snowman in the middle of summer in the middle of Sydney! Fortunately I had the collective creative genius of my wonderful husband and his parents to help me out!

First attempt:
The paper-mache garbage bag Snowman!
Which took:
6 hours
8 garbage bags
5kilos of flour
10 newspapers (fortunately the free and fashionable MX!)
2 Men
2 Ladies
1 Child
and a baby
to discover ...
that it doesn't work!
'Oh O we're leaking here gents!'
Second attempt:
The Cylinder Giant
3 hours
1 large plastic compost container
1 metal cylinder
8x6 metres of solid cardboard
2 packets of duck-tape
and ...Maybe it'll look better up the other way ...
NOPE still not remotely like a snowman and how is the head going to fit on anyway??!

Third attempt:
The Genuine Article
Import a crate of snow from Canadian relations!
... A shame we didn't have enough left in the budget to cover postage!

Fourth attempt:
The Ball-Ball-Ball Man
2 beach balls
2 pool noodles
1 exercise ball
1 packet white garbage bags
and lots and lots of quilt stuffing might just do it!

'Hey Dad!'
'Look what I found!'
'It's exactly what I've always imagined a snowball to be like!'
'Look! It rolls like one and everything!'
'I think we've cracked it!'
Did we crack the Snowman-creative-block this time? Stay tuned...
